Bauchi — Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has commended members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State for conducting what he described as a peaceful and orderly party congress, urging party faithful to sustain the spirit of unity and discipline demonstrated during the exercise.
Speaking after receiving reports from party stakeholders across the state, Tuggar noted that the successful conduct of the congress reflects the maturity of the party’s structures and the commitment of members to strengthening democratic processes within the APC.
According to him, internal party processes such as congresses remain an essential pillar of democratic consolidation, as they allow members to choose leaders transparently while reinforcing the principles of participation and accountability.
He praised party officials, delegates, and grassroots members for ensuring that the process was conducted in an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual respect, noting that political contests within parties should ultimately reinforce cohesion rather than division.
“The peaceful conduct of the congress in Bauchi State demonstrates that our party members understand the importance of unity, discipline and respect for democratic processes,” Tuggar said. “Such exercises strengthen the internal structures of the party and position it for greater service to the people.”
The Minister also commended the party leadership and electoral committee for managing the process effectively and for creating an environment where stakeholders were able to participate constructively.
Observers across several local government areas reported that party members turned out in large numbers for the congress, which was conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued by the party’s national leadership.
Political analysts have noted that the outcome of the congress is likely to play an important role in shaping the organisational strength of the APC in Bauchi State ahead of future political contests. The exercise also provides an opportunity for the party to consolidate its grassroots structures and build stronger engagement with communities across the state.
Tuggar further encouraged newly elected party officials to view their emergence not merely as a political victory but as a responsibility to serve the party faithfully and to promote inclusiveness in their leadership.
He stressed that the strength of the APC in Bauchi would depend largely on its ability to maintain unity among its members and to focus on policies and programmes that respond to the aspirations of citizens.
“Our politics must always remain anchored in service and development,” he said. “The congress is only the beginning of a broader effort to strengthen the party and ensure that it continues to serve the interests of the people.”
The Minister concluded by urging party members across the state to close ranks after the exercise and work together to build a stronger and more cohesive party structure capable of advancing democratic governance and development in Bauchi State.
The Bauchi APC congress forms part of a nationwide process by the ruling party aimed at renewing its internal leadership structures and reinforcing grassroots participation in party administration.
Daily Review gathers there were divisions among various camp ahead of the congress, and there are uncertainty surrounding the outcomes of the party congresses in Misau, Giade, Alkaleri, Ganjuwa and Jama’are as some party members were disagreed on the names forwarded to the national headquarters of the party.

As the 2027 closes in, electioneering in Bauchi appears to be gaining momentum and a lot of observers commend the party for the seamless conduct of the congress
