The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Imo State Branch, Mbaise Division, has conferred a Patron Recognition Award on Rev. Fr. Augustine Nwanehiudo for his dedication to humanitarian service and contributions to community development.
The award was presented during a special ceremony held at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish, Okponkume Mpam, in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, in the presence of parishioners, community leaders, youth groups, and representatives of the Red Cross, on 24 May 2026.
The Mbaise Division of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, comprising Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise, and Ahiazu Mbaise, Local Government Areas, described the honour as a recognition of Rev. Fr. Nwanehiudo’s consistent support for humanitarian causes and his role as Divisional Patron of the organization.
The event, which received the approval of the Imo State Coordinator of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, attracted several dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Parish Council, Nze Uchechi Obasi (Nze Nero); the President of the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO), Ezinna Sylvester Iro; the President of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Lady Philo Iwu; and members of the
Ahiara Diocesan Catholic Youth Organisation, St. Victor’s Deanery.
Presenting the award, Red Cross officials commended Rev. Fr. Nwanehiudo for his commitment to the welfare of vulnerable persons and for his support for initiatives that promote compassion, volunteerism, and community service. Responding, Rev. Fr. Nwanehiudo expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Red Cross Society for the recognition, describing the award as both an honour and a call to greater service.
He dedicated the award to the parish community and all volunteers who continue to make sacrifices for the well-being of others, noting that humanitarian service remains a shared responsibility.
The cleric reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote human dignity, community development, and assistance to those in need, while encouraging young people to embrace the values of selflessness, compassion, and service to humanity.
The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages from parish leaders and members of the Red Cross Society, who pledged to deepen collaboration in advancing humanitarian and community development efforts across Mbaise
