The League of Bauchi Professionals has endorsed the candidacy of Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar for the governship of Bauchi State ahead of the 2026/2027 election cycle.
The endorsement was contained in a statement issued to the press by the secretary of the group, Ibrahim B. Yusuf following the meeting of the association held in Bauchi during the EID celebrations.
In the statement, the group described Ambassador Tuggar as a seasoned statesman whose global exposure and leadership experienced position him to translate international network into tangible development outcomes for Bauchi State. It noted that the state requires leadership capable of blending its rich heritage with a modern governance vision, adding Tuggar embodies this balance.
The league anchored its endorsement on four key pillars of Tuggar’s leadership framework-trust and truth, accountability, consistency and and a strong sense of duty. it further cited his record of public service, including his tenure as a member of House of Representatives, representing Gamawa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State from 2007-2011, his tenure as Nigeria’s ambassador too Germany, and his current role as the Nigeria’s top diplomat, and Minister of Foreign Affairs as evidence of his experience.
According to the group, these experiences demonstrate his capacity to drive transparent governance, attract investment and reposition Bauchi State for sustainable growth.
The group called on stakeholders and citizens across the 20 local governments to massively rally behind Ambassador Tuggar in order to take the state to a greater height.
The statement concluded that Ambassador Tuggar represents a blend of local empathy and global expertise, and is well-positioned to lead Bauchi into a new phase of development.
